Doctor Who: 10 Epic Matt Smith Moments Peter Capaldi Won't Top

9. We're All Stories In The End

In The Big Bang, Smith displayed his tender nature, sitting at the young Amy Pond's bedside and remembering the story of their first season together before the crack in the wall (and in time) devoured him. He has only a few moments left to live, but, as ever, he has a trick up his sleeve. Sitting beside the young Pond, he takes a breath and recounts their adventures so far, hoping something will find its way in, hoping something will stick. "I'll be a story in your head," he says. "That's okay. We're all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh? 'Cause it was, you know. It was the best." It's a sad, heartfelt little moment at the end of a blockbuster finale. Of course, it sets up a triumphant return when Amy does remember the mad old man who stole a box, and he prances his way into her wedding.
