Doctor Who: 10 Most Ludicrous Villains And Monsters

9. The Master - The End Of Time (2009/10)

The Master As a fan of Classic Who and the Master, it really pains me to put him on this list but the version of the Master featured in The End Of Time is utterly stupid. He's leaping around like a kangaroo on anabolic steroids, he goes all Emperor Palpatine by shooting lightning from his hands, and he eats the homeless. Not to mention that John Simm's performance has more ham in it than a Mattessons factory. Although an alternate interpretation of a well loved character is always interesting, the Master should always be a suave mastermind. That's his core personality trait. This Master is closer to a Sith Lord than to Professor Moriarty (the original inspiration for the Master). And although he still shows flashes of his previous characterisation during the story, the personality, abilities, and portrayal of this Master are all just too over the top and far removed from the Master as an established character.
