Doctor Who: 10 Mind-Blowing Uses Of Foreshadowing You Never Noticed

7. Rose/Bad Wolf Is Returning

Just in case the Rose mentions were too strong in Series 4, the Who team decided to tease her return in 'The Day of the Doctor' altogether more subtly in Series 7. Victorian Clara worked at the Rose and Crown pub. There was talk of a shopgirl in 'The Bells of Saint John', and in 'The Rings of Akhaten', we learned that Clara's mother died on the day of the Auton attack in 'Rose'. Later on in 'Cold War', Rose would sing 'Hungry Like The Wolf', and some fans picked up on the use of rosey-red colours, always in Clara's costume. It was the subtlest way to foreshadow a return; Moffat decided to be more blunt, telling the audience who his favourite Doctor was with the line "Ten? Eleven's the best, you'll cry your eyes out." Take that, Davies.
