But I've narrowed it down to a few options: River gave her regenerations to her husband, and that could save him. Alternately, Ten channelled regeneration energy into his spare hand and John Hurt is an extra Doctor: so that makes Matt the thirteenth life. The possibilities are just how Moffat likes them: near infinite, near impossible to guess, and probably relating back to River. It's certainly a direction that would change the show. And it's something that we expect will be solved come Christmas at the very latest. But how does the Doctor live past the magic thirteen incarnations? Is it okay now the Time Lords are gone? Does someone sacrifice themselves? Will he find a new body like the Master? Or could it be...
