Doctor Who: 10 Steps To Falling In Love With Peter Capaldi
9. Love At First Sight
For many people, if you ask them about their favourite feature of their beloved the answer will be their eyes. Eyes are the window to the soul, or so they say, and we all know that frisson of excitement when you catch the eye of someone to whom you are attracted. Our very first introduction to Peter Capaldis Doctor came in The Day Of The Doctor when his eyes were all we saw and even then only for a moment. But that moment was enough for cinema goers to cheer wildly in anticipation of what was to come. That intense stare, those eyebrows that have their own entry on IMDB (not really, dont go looking!), the whole shot was less than 2 seconds yet it was enough to leave the audience swooning with delight. Another well-known cliché is that one should never meet ones heroes. Given the adulation heaped on Peter Capaldis Doctor before he had even uttered a line, how could he possibly live up to such hype and still be a success? But that was all still months away, and the excitement of fans only increased after the 50th Anniversary special to a degree of fervour not present since the news that the show was coming back after an 18 year hiatus with Christopher Eccleston at the helm. Our eyes may only have met across a crowded cinema, but we definitely loved him.
I.T. Consultant, technophile and Doctor Who fan. I like to talk about tech, take films apart and make excuses for Doctor Who's continuity errors. No other show has the power to make me feel like a big kid.
