Doctor Who: 10 Steps To Falling In Love With Peter Capaldi

3. Make You Feel Safe

Perhaps one of the core elements of loving someone is feeling safe when you€™re around them. They won€™t hurt you or by lack of action allow you to be hurt. This series more than any since the days of Tom Baker has been genuinely scary. Those with children may even have been concerned about the tone of some episodes, most notably the last 2 which drew complaints due to its subject matter. Even bearing in mind Doctor Who contains death as part of its DNA it was an odd subject to tackle head-on. Early on in his tenure it seemed that this new Doctor didn€™t care about the pudding brains quite as much and his companion was expendable. But over the course of the series it was clear that he would keep you safe as well as trust you to look after yourself. He would give you leeway to find your own path, but always have your back. The best relationships are ones between equals who will always look out for each other. This new Doctor, quite in-spite of ourselves, will always be there for us. Even going as far as to put his own life in danger to save another.

I.T. Consultant, technophile and Doctor Who fan. I like to talk about tech, take films apart and make excuses for Doctor Who's continuity errors. No other show has the power to make me feel like a big kid.
