Doctor Who: 10 Tantalising Time War Teasers

9. €œOne Day I Might Come To Terms With That€€ €“ Doomsday

Doctor Who Doomsday Jump forward to the end of series two and we have a tantalising reference to an actual battle €“ 'The Fall of Arcadia'. Amidst the highly emotional series finale Doomsday (the one where Rose gets stranded in Pete's World), the Doctor discusses the emotional trauma he still faces in the aftermath of the Time War. 'I was there at The Fall of Arcadia, and one day I might come to terms with that' the Doctor tells fellow Time War-escapees the Daleks. This serves as a reminder that the Doctor still carries some internal damage from the war, despite his increasingly fun demeanour and romantic entanglements. It also hints to us of some of the Gallifreyan locations that were destroyed in the war. Arcadia has been described in the prequel short The Last Day as 'the safest place in Gallifrey', but was attacked by Daleks who managed to breach the Time Lord's 'sky trenches', their futuristic security system that was thought impenetrable. A scene depicting Time Lords in mortal peril on their own turf could be a defining moment in the special, and one that audiences, as well as the Doctor, could never forget.
