Doctor Who: 10 Things We Learned In The Caretaker

3. We Saw Another New Arrival To The Promised Land

This week, the Promised Land arc came back in style as the poor policeman turned up in 'Heaven'. The victim of the deadly Skovoz Blitzer, we thought no more of him after he stumbled upon the alien in the abandoned building early on in the episode. But then he turned up in The Promised Land, trying to determine just what exactly had happened and audiences were thrown right back into the series arc not teased since episode two's Into The Dalek, What's interesting about this latest arrival is that he doesn't exactly follow the pattern of arrivals we've all been furiously trying to work out after the first two episodes. The latest internet-rumour is that half face man from Deep Breath and Gretchen from into The Dalek are connected by their decision to commit suicide (Gretchen sacrificed herself for the group and we assume the half faced man wasn't pushed). The policeman was murdered and doesn't fit this pattern. Unlike the previous two characters, he never had any direct contact with the Doctor either. His arrival only intensifies the mystery of the Promised Land, leaving us with many more questions.
