He might look like a scruffy eccentric music teacher or a member of a Beatles tribute band...but he served as the perfect antidote to the haughty authoritarianism of his past self. Throwing himself into adventures where the First had simply warned against rewriting history even when he,Ian & Barbara found themselves in the middle of it.He really was the ultimate calculating clown. That Pat managed to give his incarnation the quirk of playing what was even then such an unfashionable instrument and making it an indelible part of his charm is surely a testament to his ability. Some of the children who grew up watching him may even have been inspired to try making music of their own- and doesn't that just make it all the lovelier?
