Doctor Who: 11 Awesome Timelord Rock Songs

7. A Girl From Earth

heroine-marthajones This one is from Trock band "Turn Left" - comprised of sisters Victoria and Georgia. Their voices harmonise perfectly with each other, and as for the music, "A Girl From Earth" mixes suitably sci-fi synth with very faint TARDIS noises during the intro. It has an awesome beat - something which really gets under your skin and makes you want to jump up and dance. It's a feel-good track which would be perfect to celebrate with! The lyrics - particularly the chorus refrain "The atmosphere seems to disappear and my heartbeat seems to race" and "You've got a time machine and I'm just a girl from earth" - capture the role of a companion, and while this song seems to have been written initially about Rose, it nicely applies to all of the female companions of the post-2005 series. The lyrics also emulate the feelings of pretty much every Doctor Who fan, male or female, as they watch the show. The "Turn Left" sisters also write Wrock (Wizard Rock centred around Harry Potter) under the alias "RiddleTM", so if you're a Potter fan, you should check that project out too. When she's not watching Doctor Who, writing songs about Doctor Who, or enthusiastically discussing Doctor Who with fellow fans, Chelsea can be found watching musical theatre, reading, writing, or dressing up in costume. She likes tragedies, Tim Burton and tea; she believes that her spirit animal is an owl; and her life motto is "don't forget to be awesome".
