4. Snowmen (Optional: Angels Take Manhattan)

I spared you all Angels Take Manhattan, but last year€™s Christmas episode, or The Snowmen, is an incredibly important episode to watch. Not only is it the introduction of the new companion €“ even if she does die at the end €“ but it also gives us another look at the Doctor in a different atmosphere than we€™ve ever seen. The Doctor when he€™s finally had enough of losing the people he€™s loved and has decided that isolation is better than risk getting hurt again. How often have we all thought of that as well? Despite the fact that Ten has been described as the most human Doctor, I think this episode shows the Doctor at his most human moments. He€™s locked himself on a cloud, away from everyone, too afraid to go down and investigate the alien snow, knowing that if he engages with the Governess/Barmaid, he might risk having his heart broken again. Which he does, of course.
