Doctor Who: 11 Previous Stories That The Peter Capaldi Era Should Learn From

1. The Time Of The Doctor

The Time of the Doctor opens with a fairly impressive sight - all of The Doctor's biggest enemies all together in their spaceships hovering above a planet! Daleks! Cybermen! The Silent Gas Dirigibles of the Hoothi (one feels certain they were there somewhere)! It was an impressive conceit, marred only slightly by a nagging sense of familiarity which probably stemmed from having seen the exact same once in a lifetime coming together of all of The Doctor's biggest enemies a couple of years earlier in The Pandorica Opens. Then just for good measure all of his friendlies did the same thing at the climax of The Wedding of River Song. It's clearly an image that Stephen Moffat is fascinated by, and to be fair it is a good visual. Once. But at the end of the day not every album can be a greatest hits compilation. Let's take the alien adversaries one at a time for a little while, OK? Got all that straight? Wonderful. Roll series 8 please. The sooner the better. In the interim, feel free to comment below on any stories you wish had made the list.
