4. The Fourth Doctor's Final Moments
If you teared up just seeing the mystical figure that is Tom Baker returning to Doctor Who in 'The Day of the Doctor', then chances are, you bawled your eyes out when the man left the show. He defined what it meant to be the Doctor, staying in the role longer than anyone else, and taking the show to soaring heights in the 1970's. While the Tenth Doctor's demise was mournful but drawn out, Four's was exquisitely subtle. Instead of visiting past companions, the Doctor has visions of them, noting "It's the end... but the moment has been prepared for." It's a nostalgic goodbye to a television legend, as he accepts his fate and looks to the future; it's a typically Doctorish thing to do, and it's a regeneration scene that has become legendary. Tom Baker is a hero of the show; his final episode was always going to be heartwrenching. The dignity and class with which he bowed out of the show with has left many fans with such beautiful memories of his time on Doctor Who.
