2. The Time Of The Doctor - Steven Moffat
Let me get this out of the way: I loved it, but boy, were the fan-base up in arms. Well, half of them were at least, while the other half were praising it and crying. Or was everybody crying? The Time of the Doctor is a fitting end for Matt Smith: even if it is perhaps a little too rushed, it offered a story that wrapped everything up in a neat bow. Themes that had been present for the last four years ran through this episode, with the Eleventh Doctor ultimately meeting his end by his body becoming too weak, and receiving a brand new cycle of regenerations. And really, how else were they going to do it? His final monologue was touching, as he looked back on the past but also looked to the future, and Capaldi's first moments were frantic and fun. I'm not going to change anyone's minds about this episode by writing this but for me, Smith went out in style.
Jake lives in a small town in England with nothing much to do besides watch far too much television, play games and occasionally have a cup of tea. His favourite things to do are play the guitar and eat scones. Follow him at @_jakelennon if you wish.
