Doctor Who: 25 Actors Who'd Make Great Companions

20. Lenora Crichlow

Another actress used to fantasy-drama, Lenora Crichlow is an up-and-coming actress that many have touted for a role as a companion. One of the leads in the first few Being Human series, Crichlow's Annie Sawyer was unsure of herself to begin with, but as she eased into the series, she became more confident, having to prove herself and save and the world. She's a very funny actress, extremely enigmatic, and who knows, if Toby Whithouse becomes showrunner, she could be given a role on the show. In Series 3 of Doctor Who, she appeared as one of the passengers in 'Gridlock'.

19. Alice Eve

The daughter of Waking the Dead's Trevor Eve, an actor who auditioned for the Eighth Doctor, Alice Eve has already made her name in sci-fi, starring in Star Trek Into Darkness and Men In Black 3. An actress more used to film than television, Eve is especially glamorous and exciting but she can also come across as vulnerable, adventurous and hugely intelligent. She probably wouldn't be as bubbly and witty as Clara or Amy, but play more of a cool, aloof match for a Doctor. She caused controversy by appearing in her underwear in Star Trek, but probably wouldn't be allowed to do the same should she land a role in Doctor Who, despite Matt Smith appearing naked at Christmas.
