Doctor Who: 5 Theories The Doctor Influenced His Own Timeline In The 2013 Specials

1. President Rassilon

WhatCulture author Hayley May Phillips wrote a great article on the 50th anniversary back in late November, but her last point is something I wanted to touch on in a different perspective. Did the show decide to avoid President Rassilon and the 10th Doctor's battle with the Time Lords during the "End of Time" episodes? Yes. But I'm glad they did because you can only pack so much content into a single viewing. But did it affect continuity? I don't think so. During the "End of Time", Rassilon's reasoning for invading Earth was because of the Doctor being in possession of The Moment. If we line that up with what happened in the 50th anniversary, the storyline should look like this: War Doctor steals The Moment to destroy Gallifrey by wiping out both the Time Lords and Daleks. Lord President Rassilon is informed of this, and makes a haste decision to save Gallifrey. Rassilon appears on Earth but is defeated and sent back to Gallifrey - along with The Master - by the 10th Doctor Gallifrey is on the verge of falling with Dalek reinforcements arriving War Doctor doesn't use The Moment, and along with 10 and 11, informs a Time Lord General in the Gallifrey High Command about their plan to save the planet. Gallifrey is sent into a pocket universe With the reveal that Gallifrey is still somewhere out there, this has opened the doors to rumours about The Master's eventual return. But this also means that Rassilon is out there somewhere as well. And that's a future fans of Doctor Who should be excited about seeing.
