4. The Companion
I want to like Clara, I really do, but even if I liked the character we have been presented with in the past few series, I wouldn't truly like Clara. Why not? Because we haven't yet gotten to know her. We know that she's witty and can't bake a soufflé and has a lusty grandmother; and I suppose she's good with kids, since she teaches at an elementary school. We know these facts about Clara, but we haven't yet seen the world (or worlds) through her eyes. Instead, we've seen her through the Doctor's erratic and occasional visits, and these have painted an unfortunately haphazard portrait. Does Clara have to leave the show? No. Jenna Coleman is a good actor, and her interactions with Peter Capaldi's Doctor may grant us the introduction we were never given but desperately need.
