Doctor Who Review: Time Heist - 5 Ways The Check Was Cashed (And Bounced)

8. Debit: Ridiculous Choices

Timeheist08 There is one part of €œTime Heist€ that is so absurd it€™s difficult to decipher whether it€™s meant as farce or is plain bad writing. Similar moments have occurred in every James Bond movie but that doesn€™t mean they should be imitated. When Clara and the Doctor are captured and taken to Ms. Delphox, the Teller is right there. All she has to do is force it to scan our dynamic duo. Instead she sends them off to the cells fully functional. She might want to keep them as examples, but certainly the Teller should drain them first. If it€™s a joke, it€™s a stale one. Farce is a tricky thing to convey. It must retain an element of reality lest it lose its edge. When that happens the audience is left shaking its collective head and griping over another annoying plot hole. If there€™s a monster around use it. You can defeat it but don€™t just leave it standing there.
