6. Debit: Convoluted plot

Weak episodes often occur when there is no strong, central theme. Time Heist might have explored the consequences of elitism and greed yet it only brushed those ideas with the weakest of finger tips. The opportunity to comment on the plight of people who exist on the fringes of society was similarly squandered. Psi and Saibra must have fascinating backstories; its too bad we didnt get to know them. Its OK to linger a little on the interesting bits of a story. Instead we were pummeled with a million points of plot that never coalesced into a coherent whole. Were the time travel elements added by Steven Moffat? He is credited with co-writing the story along with Stephen Thompson. While Moffats ability to portray non-linear time is exceptional it seems forced here, and makes an already convoluted story line into an even bigger mess.
