5. Credit: Brilliant Directing

Douglas Mackinnon is the true saving grace of this episode. Even when the story bogs down he gives us beautiful things to savor. He directs Time Heist with a touch of whimsy, and a wink and a nod to the classic bank robbery movies of the past. The sets are rather spare and utilitarian yet he manages to give us a real sense of movement through an underground space that leads to a vault. His camera lingers lovingly on the face of the actors, pulling emotion from a story that has very little. He makes this episode fun even where its thin and running out of steam.
