Doctor Who Series 8: 10 Reasons The Valeyard Is The Perfect Villain

2. It Would Throw The Companions Off Guard

It never seems to take the companions long to settle into the madcap string of adventures that is life on the TARDIS. Oh, they're initially confused and baffled by the bigger-on-the-inside properties, yet they don't let it dampen the joy they take in journeying through time and space. We've seen all the companions go through this phase, and chances are we'll see it all again when Danny Pink boards the TARDIS. It's all a bit status quo, isn't it? Moffat has said they're changing things up in series 8, and what could be a bigger change than having the companions deal with the Valeyard? If there are episodes where the Valeyard is struggling to gain control of the Doctor, Clara and Danny would certainly be confused about the Doctor's extreme personality shifts--for Danny, it could cause him to consider leaving the TARDIS; he may even urge Clara to consider leaving. And the regeneration was clearly jarring enough for Clara; how would she handle the Valeyard's emergence?
