Doctor Who Series 8: 15 Obscure Easter Eggs You Probably Missed

5. The Doctor Has Insisted The Earth Isn't His Home Before (Kill The Moon)

We've seen the Doctor register his love of humanity time and again, despite the mocking from more malicious aliens (especially the Master, who delights in toying with man to insult his/her nemesis). Occasionally we see this veneer break down and he accepts this isn't his world to save. Most recently that came in Kill The Moon, where he left Clara to decide the fate of humanity herself. His summary, "Earth isn't my home", nods to another crisis of responsibility way back in the Fourth Doctor's Pyramids Of Mars where he similarly stated "The Earth isn't my home, Sarah. I'm a Time Lord. I walk in eternity." What makes this such a cool little easter egg is that it marks some actual character development across Series 8 and the show as a whole; by the events of In the Forest of the Night the Doctor has reversed this view, marking a change of not just a few episodes, but a few decades of development.
