Weve seen the 12th Doctor react in ways that we dont expect of the Doctor. His uncaring dismissal of deaths around him throughout the first five episodes of season eight. His dismissal of Clara as someone who cares so he doesnt have to. The possibility, shown to us in Deep Breath with the ambiguous death of the Half-Face Man, that he is now capable of actual murder (as opposed to allowing deaths through indifferent inaction, as he has before). Then theres the repeated references to whether the Doctor is a good man something we took for granted with the 11th Doctor, with his episode A Good Man Goes To War. And yet again, a Dalek has called him a good Dalek. Is this Doctor mysterious, frightening, inhumanly callous the Doctor weve grown up with? Is it just another facet of his new persona, or has he been directed this way by the events that lead to his regeneration? Whichever it might be, the 12th Doctor is a scary individual. His attack eyebrows are only a small part of that an intense stare doesnt explain his lack of consideration for the deaths caused by the reverted Dalek in episode two, Into The Dalek, or his complete indifference to the apparent deaths of Psi and Saibra in Time Heist. Way back in the mists of time, the 7th Doctor was manifest as a Machiavellian manipulator that might actually have killed his previous self to allow regeneration into his current form. Before that, there are the episodes involving the Valeyard, a potential evil future incarnation of the Doctor. We may be witnessing the Doctor as unreliable protagonist for the first time, this may not be our Doctor. Wouldnt it be something if this Doctor was a worse person than any of his foes? If the Doctor became the antagonist? Ever since the Valeyard appeared on our television screens, weve secretly longed for a storyline where the Doctor himself was the Big Bad. Nearly three decades later could this finally be it? Were sure youve got your own ideas. Let us know all about them in the comments! And remember this is a spoiler discussion. If your friends dont want to know, dont tell them!
