Doctor Who: 10 Actors Who Should Be Capaldi's Next Companion

6. Josh Widdicombe

Comedian Widdicombe has turned his self-professed Hobbit-like features into a positive boon for a successful stand up career. He's a mainstay of panel shows and toplines Channel 4's agenda-setting topical chat fest The Last Leg. What's possibly not known about him, though, is that he's an actor, too. A sitcom showcasing his talent is on the way at BBC Three, where he will be centre stage, so it's worth thinking about whether his affable persona might be suitable for a part as an unusual but potentially memorable time travelling assistant, too. He has a childish quality that younger viewers would find very appealing and his track record bantering with Last Leg host Adam Hills and co-star Alex Brooker have given him ample experience should he get into verbal fisticuffs with Capaldi.
