Doctor Who: 10 Actors Who Should Replace Peter Capaldi

7. Sacha Dhawan

Why He'd Be Great

Sacha Dhawan is probably the least known name on this list, but that could work in his favour. Without too much expectation on what he'd bring, there'd be a relatively blank slate for him to work with.

In his numerous TV appearances, which include the excellent Utopia, Mr Selfridge, Line of Duty, and the most recent series of Sherlock, he's shown himself to be confident, charismatic, and incredibly versatile - all key aspects of playing the Doctor.

Chances Of It Happening

There's almost no way he'd turn it down - he's one of the busiest TV actors in the UK, and this would be the chance of a lifetime (and he's previously said he'd love to work on the show). So it'd depend on whether those in charge wanted him.

He's definitely talented enough, and they should be aware of him: one of his breakthrough roles was a fantastic turn as Who director Warris Hussein in Mark Gatiss' An Adventure in Space and Time. His fairly low profile could count against him, but then Matt Smith wasn't that well-known when he got the part.
