Doctor Who: 10 Best Davros Stories

10. Resurrection Of The Daleks (1984)

In a way, Resurrection of the Daleks would signal what was to come for the Colin Baker Era, unfortunately for the worst. This story contained the worst excesses of '80s Doctor Who, being loaded to the brim with excessive yet mindless violence (apparently having the highest body-count out of any Doctor Who story) and revelling in unnecessary bouts of continuity. Even writer Eric Saward himself stated that he wasn't satisfied with how the story was came out, and sought to rectify this with his next Davros/Dalek story.

However, there are some positives to be found here. Terry Molloy instantly excels as Davros from the get-go, breathing new life and dimension to the character after David Gooderson's one-note performance. His performance is both spine-chilling and totally-insane in equal measure, and the Fifth Doctor's moral dilemma with Davros towards the end provides one of the best moments of the Peter Davison Era. Plus, Tegan's departure at the end is still heartbreaking stuff. A decent story, though it could've been a lot better.
