Doctor Who: 10 Best Davros Stories

5. The Stolen Earth/Journey's End (2008)

Journey's End Doctor Who
BBC

The ultimate culmination of Russell T Davies' time as showrunner, The Stolen Earth/Journey's End was a monumental two-part finale to what was already a monumental year of Doctor Who. This epic two-parter saw the Tenth Doctor and all of his companions and allies united together to save, not just the Earth, but the whole of reality from Davros and his new Dalek empire.

The stakes have been raised to gargantuan peaks and throughout, the tension just kept building and building as Davros' ultimate plan of wiping out the whole of creation with a Reality Bomb came closer and closer to fruition, plus the tragic ending of Donna Noble still hurts to this day. By then, Davros hadn't been seen on screen for 20 years, but his return here was worth the wait, and new actor Julian Bleach proved to be the best actor to have ever portrayed the character, perfectly combining the cold, calculating menace of Michael Wisher with the scheming, megalomaniacal insanity of Terry Molloy. Overall, a fitting end to a great series.
