Doctor Who: 10 Best Episodes To Get You Into The Classic Series

3. The Caves of Androzani

Attack Of The Cybermen Doctor Who
BBC

There isn’t much to say about this episode that hasn’t already been said. Renowned as one of, if not the greatest story of all time (yes, that includes NuWho too), The Caves of Androzani is a brilliant story that proves the Fifth Doctor is one of the most heroic incarnations to have ever regenerated.

Peter Davison’s last story is the definition of a swansong, and parallels the End of Time in how the Doctor selflessly sacrifices himself for one person. It’s a very moving end to the Fifth Doctor’s era, and represents everything great about Doctor Who as a whole.

The story is a dark and gritty adventure where no one can be trusted. It feels very much like an episode from the revived series. Unfortunately, the downside is after watching this, you may find yourself disappointed with the rest of the Classic era, as it rarely reaches a level of quality anywhere near that of The Caves of Androzani.

Lewis Bunce hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
