Doctor Who: 10 Directions The Show Could Go In Next

6. The Morbius Doctors

As divisive as the Timeless Child reveal was, it actually brought full-circle a plot point introduced all the way back in 1976.

The Brain of Morbius is a Fourth Doctor storyline that unfortunately does not involve Tom Baker battling Jared Leto. Instead, it features the Doctor taking on a Time Lord criminal, Morbius, who is seeking a new body.

While locked in a mental battle with Morbius, the Doctor sees all three of his previous regenerations, and some previously unseen faces too. In reality, these were the faces of various staff members, but they were intended to represent the Doctor's past incarnations, prior to his days as William Hartnell.

This lends weight to the ideas presented in the Timeless Child arc, supporting the notion that the Doctor has existed for far longer than we thought.

It would be impossible to bring in all of the people pictured in The Brain of Morbius - some of them are no longer with us - but it would be nice to acknowledge them now that their status as past Doctors has been confirmed.

Maybe they could be recast and the Doctor could cross paths with one or two of them, just like when he crossed paths with his first incarnation in Twice Upon A Time.
