Doctor Who: 10 Greatest NuWho Speeches

9. Speech On Love - Thirteenth Doctor

Something I believe in, my faith, love in all its forms is the most powerful weapon we have because love is a form of hope. And, like hope, love abides in the face of everything.

Much like Peter Capaldi’s monologue about war, this monologue Jodie Whittaker delivered will always be remembered as one of the highlights of her reign as The Doctor. The Doctor shares some words of her own hopes, love and compassion at Umbreen and Prem’s wedding.

Giving a hopeful and sweet speech about how love is a form of hope, and like hope, love abides in the face of everything. This monologue is very bittersweet as the family knows that Prem is going to be shot and killed that same day by his brother who doesn’t approve of the marriage.

It’s a classic Doctor Who moment where The Doctor wishes they can do something to help, but unfortunately Prem’s death is a fixed moment in time that undoing it would cause major damage to the universe and cause The Doctor's companion Yaz to have never been born.

As The Doctor officiates the wedding, she admires the love Prem and Umbreen have for each other, saying right now they are the strongest people on the planet, maybe even the universe.
