I walked away from the Last Great Time War. I marked the passing of the Time Lords. I saw the birth of the universe and I watched as time ran out moment by moment until nothing remained. No time. No Space. Just me!

Although the episode itself is a confusing mess, the emotional monologue about love, life, and loss the Eleventh Doctor delivers at the end is nothing short of exceptional. Unlike other monologues, this isn’t about who The Doctor is but more about calling out a selfish God who asks too much of its faithful followers.

The choir playing behind The Doctor’s emotional statement perfectly complements the emotional toll the monologue has on The Doctor’s conscious. He realises he won’t be able to defeat the God with just his words this time, and so gives up his own memories, allowing the God to feed off them and giving up all his torment, trauma, and misery.

There are moments like these that remind us of the kind of trauma The Doctor has to deal with on a daily basis, done in the most emotional and best way possible. The Doctor is using his past pain and trauma as a weapon, tricking the God to overfeed himself with his emotion.
