Doctor Who: 10 Greatest Thirteenth Doctor Stories

6. Village Of The Angels

The fourth instalment of the Flux storyline features the Weeping Angels, along with some incredibly confusing, yet satisfying exploration of time travel.

Village of the Angels properly introduces us to Claire - who we met briefly in The Halloween Apocalypse - and the village of Medderton in 1967, where there exists a strange energy barrier.

While residing in the village, Claire is hunted down by the Angels, and over the course of the story she gradually becomes an Angel in an incredibly tense and grim scene. Meanwhile, after touching an Angel, Dan and Yaz are sent back to Medderton in 1901, and can see over the energy barrier into 1967.

The subplot of the episode features other Flux regulars Bel and Vinder, who are trying to find each other over the six episode series. In Village of the Angels, Bel sees several survivors of the flux being tricked into entering a prison form known as Passenger, which is important to the resolution of Flux as a whole.

The cliffhanger of this story is perhaps one of the best in Doctor Who's long history, with the Doctor being turned into a Weeping Angel. It was shocking stuff, and left fans chomping at the bit for the next episode.
