Think about it. Arguably the greatest actor working today taking on the role of Doctor Who: think of the majesty and grandeur that an actor like Daniel Day-Lewis could bring to the role. Much like Oldman, Daniel Day-Lewis is an actor that would be hard to predict what sort of personality he would give to his incarnation of The Doctor. In case you don't know, he also goes to the utmost extreme to get into character and stay there throughout the making of the film. It's shown on screen at how hard he works to capture a magical performance that translates itself into many awards that cements himself further up the ladder as one of Hollywood's greats. While a big screen take of the Time Lord might not bring him another Oscar, it may expose a new audience to his extraordinary talents, as well as introduce him to new genres and new roles to get obsessed over.
