Doctor Who: 10 Missing Episodes We Really Need to Have!

7. The Celestial Toymaker (Story 024, 1966, Episodes 1, 2 and 4 out of 4 are missing)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJO6iXLWvbw WHY WE MISS IT: Well, first off, it€™s one of the few stories that features Dodo. She was never overly popular as a companion, but the rare times we get to see her are kind of fun. Second, it has lots of weirdness, like the Doctor being turned invisible and people being made to play in sinister children€™s games. But most importantly, notable character actor Michael Gough (best known internationally for playing Alfred in the 1980s and 1990s Batman films), plays the Toymaker himself. The character of the Toymaker remains popular enough that there were plans to bring him back in a Sixth Doctor story called €œThe Nightmare Fair€, and eventually Big Finish audio brought him back in an adaptation of that planned story. He also returns in an 8th Doctor companion chronicle story called €œSolitaire€. CHANCE FOR RECOVERY: Medium The fact that we do at least have one formerly missing episode to view helps. That means that there could well be more out there. Gough was a well-known enough actor that I would imagine he was probably used as a reason for overseas buyers to purchase this one. But that said, outside of areas like Ireland and Australia, I doubt he was THAT big of a name. So this one really could go either way.
