Doctor Who: 10 More Things You Never Knew About Peter Capaldi

3. He Could Have Been The Eighth Doctor

Is anyone else now imagining Capaldi in a long curly wig? Yes, back in the mid 90s, the Anglo-American team behind the TV movie pilot for a new version of Doctor Who were on the hunt for their new Time Lord. Many actors were approached, beginning with the likes of Harrison Ford and Jim Carrey, and apparently including Peter Capaldi. Capaldi, however, decided not to go for the audition. Speaking on the event recently, he stated: "I knew I wouldn't get it. I loved the show so much that I didn't want anything to do with it unless it was going to be me. I didn't want to have to go through all the palava of jumping through hoops for something that I would never get." Thankfully, come 2014 Peter's confidence in his chances meant he accepted the invitation to audition for the role this time around and thus the Twelfth Doctor was born. Who-ray!
