Doctor Who: 10 Most Annoying Companions Of The Revived Series

2. Adam Mitchell

Also known as 'The Companion Who Never Was'. And it's pretty obvious why he's made it onto this list, isn't it? After all, he was only ever in two episodes but apparently that's all he needed to put the entire future of the human race at risk. Introduced in Series 1's Dalek as a researcher working for Henry van Statten, Adam Mitchell took a particular liking to Rose Tyler (and vice versa, even though she was "technically" still romantically involved with Mickey Smith at this point - fo' shame!) and ended up joining our heroes on their travels, much to the Ninth Doctor's disdain, with the promise of becoming an invaluable member of the coveted TARDIS team. Or so everyone thought, anyway, but the Time Lord needn't have worried in the end because he wasn't going to be around for very long at all. Like, at all. As it turns out, the concept of time travel proved to be far too much for this poor self proclaimed genius to handle when he attempted to send information back to his era during his first (and only) venture in the TARDIS. A rookie mistake indeed, and the Doctor subsequently wasted no time in dropping him back off where he came from. That's what you get for being cocky now, isn't it, Adam? Still, at least he now had an infospike installed inside his brain to make life on Earth a little bit more interesting. We'd say it was fun while it lasted but, well... it really wasn't, was it? Speaking of companions who never were...
