Doctor Who: 10 Most Infuriating Cliffhangers Of The Revived Series
6. The Almost People
Doctor Who fans had been promised that Series 6: Part 1 would end with a colossal cliffhanger but nothing quite prepared them for the one that preceded it in The Rebel Flesh. After investigating a species of flesh doppelgängers (who were basically being created by humans to do all the hard work for them), it eventually transpired that the Doctor's faithful companion Amy Pond had also been one all along. Well, not all along, but for the duration of that series, anyway. Viewers (and Rory - poor, poor Rory!) were only just beginning to get their heads around this peculiar turn of events when the real Amy woke up to find herself withthe confines of some weird alien lab. This is where she had really been whilst her pregnancy was monitored under the watchful eye (well, one eye...) of the ominous Eye Patch Lady who proceeded to tell her that she was ready to give birth to the baby she hadn't even known for sure she was having. Talk about a rough day. While there's no denying the fact that the revelation made for one of the most momentous twists in Doctor Who history, it's been included on this list of infuriating cliffhangers because... well, it didn't really make a whole lot of sense now, did it? Not only had Amy been dominating the spotlight of each episode but it now transpired that the whole series had been seemingly based around her, too, and that's not to mention all of the unanswered questions that are still yet to be resolved. For starters, how long had Amy actually been a doppelgänger? It was later mentioned in passing that she'd been taken and cloned by the Silence just before the US two-parter but why would Madame Kovarian go to such extreme lengths to ensure that the baby Amy gave birth to would grow up to become a psychopathic killing machine? And Steven Moffat just expected us to buy all of this, no questions asked? Amy Pond wasn't the only one screaming. Still, it was all very dramatic which is what really matters, isn't it? Let's not dwell on the fact that nobody really knew what the hell was even going on and try to enjoy it for what it is. Failing that, just pretend it never happened. It's strangely therapeutic.
