Doctor Who: 10 Most Powerful Daleks Ever

7. Gold Dalek (Day Of The Daleks/Frontier In Space)

This Supreme first appeared in 1972's Day of the Daleks - the first Dalek TV episode in colour - and made use of this fact with its unmistakable shiny gold colour scheme.

A member of the Supreme Council of Daleks, this Dalek battled the Doctor in two serials, where it used time travel to change history. Teaming up with the Master in Frontier in Space to start an interplanetary war between the humans and peaceful Draconian race, this would be this Dalek's first undoing.

Manipulated by the Master and defeated by the Third Doctor, it instead turned its sights on ruling over a 22nd Century Earth in an alternate timeline.

Controlling weak-willed humans and ape-like Ogron soldiers, this golden leader was foiled again by an earlier version of the Third Doctor who managed to prevent an assassination in the 20th Century. This assassination - of an important diplomat - would have started a war which would have led to a Dalek-controlled future. The Doctor's actions, despite the Gold Dalek's best efforts, caused the alternate timeline to be aborted.

Staging an assault on the 20th Century with meagre Dalek and Ogron forces, the Gold Dalek was eventually destroyed by a resistance fighter's bomb and time was restored.

Iconic in appearance but easy in defeat, this 'Terminator' Dalek was no match for the Doctor.
