Doctor Who: 10 Most Unlikely Allies Of The Daleks

Along with the Slyther, the aptly-named Robomen were robotised slaves also working for the Daleks during their 22nd Century Invasion of Earth.

Following a process referred to as 'the transfer', these humans became unthinking zombies and enacted their Dalek masters' bidding without hesitation.

Selecting human survivors of the invasion with superior intellect, the Daleks would take them to their saucers to be robotised. A captured First Doctor would have also been part of the transfer process if he hadn't been rescued by London resistance fighters.

Wearing mind-control helmets, the Robomen patrolled the devastated streets of planet Earth and the Bedfordshire mine operation, capturing survivors and killing the rebels. The robotisation wasn't perfect, however, and the mind control could easily wear off - with some Robomen going insane and killing themselves.

Those who were functioning were completely obedient to the Daleks. The Doctor would later use this to his advantage when stealing the Daleks' control microphone and ordering the Robomen to turn against their masters.

A basic slave race used to bulk out Dalek numbers and disposable enough to fight on the front lines, the Robomen were allies that the Daleks could make on any planet with intelligent life.
