Doctor Who: 10 Most Unlikely Allies Of The Daleks

2. The Master

Even the Doctor's Time Lord arch-nemesis has teamed up with the Daleks.

Although Missy thought she could work with the Daleks in 2015's The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar, one of her previous incarnations had tried and failed years prior in 1973's Frontier in Space.

In this serial, the Master had been employed by the Daleks to provoke an interplanetary war between humanity and the Draconians.

The Daleks believed that they could invade the future Earth and Draconia with ease if the two military empires devastated each other. Forming the uneasy alliance, all the Master had to do was maintain the illusion of war.

Using his technology and powers, he hypnotised the humans into believing they were being attacked by the Draconians. Really, they were fighting the Ogrons.

With an intervening Third Doctor facing extermination, the Master instead tricked the Daleks into sparing his life so they could watch the universe burn together. This, fortunately, gave the Doctor enough time to reveal the trickery to the humans and the Draconians and escape.

In the ensuing chaos, the Master fled from the Daleks and the two enemies - for better or worse - haven't worked together since.
