During the Ponds' swansong, Rory steps up when he realises that his own death would cause a paradox which would save Amy, their daughter River Song and, of course, the Doctor. Stepping onto the ledge at Winter Quay, he's fully prepared to do what's necessary to once again sacrifice himself for those he loves most dearly of all. What's most touching of all about this moment is that he wants Amy to push him, because he openly admits that he doesn't have the will power to leave her forever. Naturally, the headstrong Amy Pond wouldn't allow him to kill himself if there was any risk of them being separated and so she too takes the plunge with him. A moving gesture, Rory even finds time for some levity in the moment, pointing out that he'll probably come back to life because, after all, when doesn't he? Luckily, the Ponds (or should that now be Williams?) lived out the rest of their lives together happily in New York. A somewhat bittersweet ending for the Last Centurion and Girl Who Waited but, as always, they had each other. Which was all they ever really needed.
