Doctor Who: 10 Potential Actors Who Could Play The 14th Doctor
1. Idris Elba
It actually shocks me that Idris Elba hasn't been offered the role of the Doctor yet. In many ways it's criminal. But I can still dream can't I that one day this absolute gem of an actor could potentially be given the keys to the TARDIS.
At the end of the day Idris Elba is just bloody brilliant. He's got such a great personality, and every role he plays has you invested, even if he's the villain like in Hobbs & Shaw. From Heimdall, to John Luther, to even Chief Bogo from Zootropolis (I really think he's funny in that) he nails every role he's given and it's a privilege just to sit back and watch him go to work. I can only imagine how amazing he would be as The Doctor. The universe would literally be his oyster.
Idris Elba would probably bring a lot of wit to his performance, and a keen sense of authority in every situation he's in. He'd definitely be a Doctor that makes his presence known. Probably just his voice would send shivers down his enemies' spine. I can see myself feeling safe with Idris Elba in the role, whilst admiring how cool, calm, calculated, determined, heroic, and passionate he'd be as The Doctor, as he feels the full weight of his wisdom, and burdens, whilst simply just rolling with it because he has to.
He takes it in his stride and does what he has to, protecting his companions every step of the way, while making sure that his various enemies understand firmly that the universe is under his protection. Pretty much everyone has their dream Doctor. This is it for me. If Idris Elba was cast then I'd be very, very, very happy.
