Doctor Who: 10 Potential Actors Who Could Play The 14th Doctor
7. Andrew Lincoln
Andrew Lincoln made a name for himself playing Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead, particularly with his morally ambiguous character who constantly faced tipping over the edge during a post-apocalyptic world ruled by the undead.
With the emotional sequences that Andrew Lincoln poured his heart and soul into, I feel he could do a damn good job transferring that raw energy over to Doctor Who. You could have his Doctor be this damaged soul that titters on the fence, as he battles to maintain control over his sanity, wishing to be the 'good man' that follows truthfully to the promise he made himself.
During his struggles to battle against the evils of the universe he could be faced with challenges that tests him to the core, pushing him to be an incarnation that's harsher with their decision making, as their forced into a corner while solving the situation at hand. Perhaps their portrayal could be similar to the War Doctor, a broken man who was forced to make a terrible choice in the name of peace and sanity.
What could make Andrew Lincoln's Doctor more devastating is those small glimpses at hope, where we see his strenuous journey given a momentary reprieve before reality crashes harshly back into his existence, reminding him that hope isn't always easily obtained. But, fundamentally, his Doctor would keep fighting until the bitter end. Eventually he'd die having achieved his end goal of peace and freedom for those around him, demonstrating his heroic deeds as a hero to the universe. Even if it meant along the way he had to make decisions he wasn't necessarily proud of.
