Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Christopher Eccleston Is The Best Doctor

8. He's Willing To Give Everything Up

In Matt Smith's current run of the Doctor, the character is trying to downplay himself as he has realised the reputation he has built up damages the people he loves. This comes after David Tennant's run who ended trying to run away from the inevitable and left with a cry of €œI don't want to go€. I bet he wishes he found that Tesselecta a few lives earlier. Christopher Eccleston, on the other hand, accepts his responsibility and makes the tough choices. The Daleks are ready to take over the world and he can wipe them out, but this would mean killing the humans too. The only thing he can do is save Rose by setting the Tardis to take her away and then shut down. At this point, the Doctor is ready for everything to end and his race to die as long as Rose is safe. There's no running away. That's a man's man right there.
