Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Christopher Eccleston Is The Best Doctor

7. He Has Dinner With Enemies

Despite being a universal hit, the Doctor likes to remind everybody just how British he is from time to time. He may be a destroyer of worlds who brings devastation to all those who cross him, but that's no need to be rude whilst he's doing it. In this classic scene from Boom Town, Eccleston brings the Doctor's trademark charm and throws in a dash of badass-ery as he casually takes a Slitheen war criminal to dinner just before escorting her home to die. Tensions are naturally high as Blon Fel-Fotch Pasameer-Day Slitheen (more commonly referred to as Margaret) makes multiple attempts to kill the Doctor during the evening. Eccleston brushes each of these aside with ease including demonstrating Matrix-like reflexes by catching a poison dart fired across the table. Only Eccleston can defeat someone earlier in the series, then take them out for steak and chips before getting them executed. I'd love to see William Hartnell try that.
