Doctor Who: 10 Reasons David Tennant Deserved His Special Recognition Award

7. He Supports British Theatre

A stalwart of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Tennant has never lost his enthusiasm for performing live. He is a seasoned stage actor whose career includes such varied productions as Trevor Griffiths€™ Comedians, John Osborne€™s Look Back In Anger and director Gregory Doran€™s radical interpretations of Richard II and Hamlet - the latter of which was produced for television. He makes a fine ambassador for the theatre and its long standing role in nurturing talent from the boards to the small screen. His ongoing interest in radio drama delivers a similar amount of welcome publicity between one medium and another.
