Doctor Who: 10 Reasons David Tennant Deserved His Special Recognition Award

8. He's A Joker

Tennant has a palpable sense of fun, buoyed by a childlike energy. In Doctor Who he feigned drunkenness to fool the Clockwork Droids (The Girl in the Fireplace) and he put in an hilarious turn as a Russell Brand-style apparition alongside companion Catherine Tate in Nan€™s Christmas Carol. He can also currently be seen in Comic Relief's "Make Your Face Funny For Money" campaign and most recently he surprised Radio 4 listeners by executing a perfect 60 seconds of unbroken waffle on Just A Minute. He embraces comedy, from the absurdist antics of Sky€™s This Is Jinsy, to the semi-improvised naturalism of What We Did On Our Holiday. He doesn€™t mind trading on his looks or sending them up in order to get laughs and his chemistry with Tate, a regular collaborator, is testament to this.
