Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Last Christmas Is Probably The Best Special Yet

1. Laying The Groundwork

Doctor Who is notorious for its blasts from the past but it's also great at laying the groundwork for the things to come, too. Last Christmas looked to the future because it's only just begun - as that old Christmas song goes - by introducing the character of Shona McCullough who has already created quite a speculative stir due to the fact that the episode seemingly suggested she'll be The Magican's Apprentice that the tittle of the Series 9 premiere episode is alluding to. Whatever happens in Series 9, fans have discovered that Clara Oswald will be coming along for the ride and its also been confirmed that Missy will be back to wreak more havoc too, so the future for the series is looking very bright indeed. What's more, 2015 will mark 10 years of the revived series and Last Christmas was the perfect episode to bring NuWho into its anniversary year. Onwards! What do you think of this list? Do you agree that Last Christmas was the best Doctor Who special to date? Where do you rank it alongside the Doctor's previous festive escapades? Let us know in the comments below.
