Doctor Who: 10 Reasons The Doctor Should Never Be A Woman

7. Say Goodbye To Your Companions

Every regeneration more or less means new companions, one way or another. It has been a fairly long run of companions or assistants traveling with the Doctor through time and space, but with a female Doctor, things are bound to change. If a female Doctor is what fans want, then there will come a time when they would be vouching for male companions - a sort of alternative to the usual Doctor-companion paradigm €“ and not a lot of interesting male companions come to mind. Mind you, lack of interesting companions will render the show pointless. Then again, Rupert Grint might make it into the cast but is that really what Whovians want to see? Won€™t the dynamics and relationship between the companion and the Doctor change? It is one thing for a female companion to fall in love with the Doctor but when it€™s a male companion instead, people will ultimately go about saying that it€™s sexist, at the least. And if that doesn€™t make you understand the gravity of that change, imagine a show with just Doctor and Rory, or Harry Sullivan even. It is not gonna be fantastic.
