Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Why The Third Doctor Is The Best Ever
8. The Angry Young Gentleman
Its worth noting that the Third Doctor was very young from a Time Lord perspective. He ended this incarnation at the age of 748, probably equivalent to his late teens or early 20s. This may explain some aspects of his personality. This Doctor could be as petulant and sulky as a grounded teenager, which during his exile on Earth was exactly what he was. Being tethered to one location and time was almost more than he could bear. Impatient to boot, he often acted rashly. He regularly ignored both orders and pleas, generally making situations worse instead of better.
Despite being the most courteous and polite incarnation, the Third Doctor struggled with authority and took great pleasure in puncturing pompous egos. He was also a self-declared pacifist, fired by an idealism that usually came up short against reality. He showed this best in his Silurian/Sea Devil adventures, failing to broker peace between these races and humanity.
The Third Doctor would have made a great students union president. You can imagine him marching against the injustices of the day and the follies of the establishment. He was an angry young man, with an admirable passion for peace.
